Last night, the team at Billian went head to head with 50 Lancashire-based businesses in a charity quiz to raise money for Blackburn Youth Zone – a youth club facility that aims to change the prospects and opportunities offered to young people in the area.
Generously hosted by the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel, who supplied the room and food for all participants at no cost, and with help from the hotel staff and other event organisers, Cummins Mellor Recruitment ensured that all guests were attended to.
Our knowledge was questioned in what we can only describe as a ‘challenging’ quiz with a wide range of categories, including sports, politics, books and the youth club itself.
Dan, Noor, Matt and Simon, Billian’s representatives that attended the event, placed a respectable 37th out of the 51 teams that competed.
Simon, our Director of Operations, said “we would have loved to bring home the trophy, but the event raised £12,320 with a financial broker offering to match the proceeds, so we can’t complain!”
Sports Tours International donated an impressive Tour De France package which was grabbed up by one lucky attendee for £1,000 at auction.
The raffle, and its fantastic collection of 28 prizes, also generated some great interest. Prizes included a pan set worth £1,000, afternoon tea for two, luxury hampers and much more.
Congratulations to Woodcocks, Howarth & Nuttall for coming in first place and thank you to Cummins Mellor Recruitment for doing a fabulous job at arranging and hosting the event, and for inviting us to take part!
It was a great night and we were delighted to help raise funds for such a worthy local cause. Roll on #BYZQuizQuest18!
